a Deeper look into somatic processing
The word Soma translates to ‘the living, breathing body’ in Greek. With this in mind, the goal of Somatic Therapy is to create a new relationship with our own sacred living, breathing body— to get to know it as the home that we get to co-create life with and inside of. Somewhere that we can rest in, not run from. An inner sanctuary that houses our precious soul.
The goal of Somatic work is to go inwards, to witness what’s going on beneath our thoughts, through the breath and through presence. It is a delicate process in which we begin to tune into the soul and unravel our truest Self. The Self that’s been buried under a lifetime of conditioning, projection, pain, and ultimately— trauma. Once we can create enough safety in the body, our subconscious mind then grants us access to the most innocent and vulnerable aspects of ourselves. (The parts that have been on lockdown out of survival/self-preservation for, most likely, years and years.)
Once we begin to connect with this Self safely and securely, we can uncover where the roots of our pain, suffering, and programming begin.
In essence, within this work you will learn to:
Trust your body’s natural ability to heal and self-regulate.
Cultivate loving and patient awareness of your physical and emotional sensations.
Re-pattern trauma, stored emotion, and energy by allowing the soma to release what the mind cannot.
